Lee Tae-yong (이태용), is better known by his stage name TAEYONG (태용), is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and dancer born on July 1, 1995, in Seoul, South Korea. He is a member and the leader of the boy group NCT and its units NCT U and NCT 127.
In December 2013, he was introduced as part of SM's pre-debut training team SMROOKIES. Before his debut, in 2014, he was featured in Red Velvet's single "Be Natural". In April 2016, TAEYONG officially debuted as a member of NCT, in the unit NCT U, with the single "The 7th Sense". In July, he was announced to be a member of the 2nd unit, NCT 127.
Taeyong released his debut mini album SHALALA on June 5th, 2023.

He was cast into SM Entertainment in 2012, discovered by street scouts in front of his school.
Before debut, he was supposedly in a scandal wherein middle school, they said he would scam people with fake goods on the internet. When buyers replied and wanted refunds, he cursed at them and threatened them. Taeyong has apologized for the acts of his youth. In 2017, it was confirmed to be made up.
He is the leader of NCT 127.
He often participates in writing the lyrics for NCT songs, and occasionally composes.
