M.I.L.K. (밀크) (Made In Lovely Kin) was a 4 member girl group that debuted under SM Entertainment's sister label, BM Entertainment. Like Shinvi, the group was part of a string of SM girl groups that debuted under subsidiaries while SM was still attempting to replace the (then) recently disbanded S.E.S.

The group debuted with the full studio album With Freshness, and officially disbanded after member Yumi's departure in 2003. While having only released one full studio album, the group also appeared on SMTOWN's albums, Winter Vacation In Smtown.Com - Angel Eyes, Summer Vacation In Smtown.Com, and 2002 Winter Vacation In SMTown.com.

History[]

After S.E.S.'s success, SM pursued a strategy of intensive training from 1998 to 2000 after casting talented young trainees in preparation for the next generation, with BoA among them, making her solo debut, resulting in a huge success. Seo Hyunjin, Park Jaeyoung, Kim Bomi, and Bae Yumi were among SM trainees who were cast at the time. A weekly magazine reported that Jang Nara was originally chosen as a member of M.I.L.K., but she refused as a trainee. She debuted earlier than M.I.L.K. as a soloist under SM.

Their first full-length album was released in December 2001, and they made their debut on January 2, 2002. They promoted for nearly 10 months until the fall of 2002, receiving good reception for their debut album. However, they did not meet expectations as a junior girl group to S.E.S., as M.I.L.K.'s first album sold only 72,876 copies. Their comeback was postponed due to Yumi's withdrawal in the summer of 2003, which led to the group's silent disbandment.

If M.I.L.K. had not disbanded, "Into the New World" would have been the title song of their second album in 2003. Preparations for their comeback began in early May 2002 and were almost completed two months later. However, after multiple cable program appearances, activities for the group suddenly halted, and Yumi departed from the group.
