H.O.T. (에이치오티; acronym for Highfive Of Teenagers) was a five-member boy group under SM Entertainment in 1996, and consisted of members Heejun, Woohyuk, Tony, Kangta, and Jaewon. They are considered to be the first K-pop idol group and their successful formula became the model for many K-pop groups that followed them.
H.O.T. would go on to sell 6.4 million records in Korea and become commercially successful in both China and Japan. They are known to be among the first artists of the Hallyu wave in Asia.
The group officially disbanded in May 2001 following members Tony, Woohyuk, and Jaewon's contract disagreements with SM Entertainment.
